Sokol Space Suit

On June 7, 1971 the Soyuz-11 spacecraft was launched with crew members Georgi Dobrovolski, Vladislav Volkov and Victor Patsayev. After the successful docking with the Salyut-1 space station, the crew proceeded to carry out their assignments. However, at the end of the mission, on June 30, 1971, during descent, all crew members died as a result of spontaneous premature depressurization of the descent module.

After the accident, all manned spaceflights were suspended. Flights only resumed two years later, aftera considerable number of modifications to the spacecraft had been made. Since then, the launch and descent stages of all flights were performed in the pressurized rescue suits, which were designed to save the life of an astronaut in the event of unexpected spacecraft depressurization.

During your tour, you can get acquainted with the design of this unique invention, try it on, feel what it’s like to work in the conditions of depressurization and with limited heat removal, and, of course, to take memorable pictures.
